Metal & metal finishes care guide
Identify the outer finish. Keep it clean and dry.

Daily Care
Identify the finish first
Gold, silver and black describe appearance only. The same colour can come from paint, electroplating, PVD or bare metal. Choose cleaning methods according to the outermost finish.
01 / Remove grit and dust
Gently remove particles with a clean soft dry cloth. If the finish is unknown, dry dust only, blot spills and dry the surface, then confirm the appropriate cleaning method.
02 / Clean sparingly and dry promptly
Where damp wiping is allowed, use a well-wrung soft cloth. Apply cleaner to the cloth rather than spraying it into screw holes, mechanisms, upholstery or stone joints. Follow the suitable instructions and dry afterwards.
Care for adjacent materials separately
Keep metal cleaners away from leather, textiles and stone. Do not allow moisture to remain in joints. Stainless steel and plated finishes do not mean that the whole piece may remain damp or be immersed.
Maintain hardware by model
Do not spray every hinge, slide and damper with lubricant. Maintain only the parts approved in the model instructions, using the specified materials and method. Tighten as instructed; do not keep tightening by feel.
Stop using the product if these occur
Contact Dak Haan customer service or your sales contact if you see obvious corrosion, peeling coatings, sharp burrs, cracked welds or loose structural parts. Do not force or lever a jammed mechanism. Do not sand, repaint, weld or replate it yourself.
Test a hidden area first
Test a small amount of any new cleaner in a hidden area and let it dry fully. Stop repeated treatment if there is no improvement, colour transfer or a loss of sheen.

Material Notes
Painted and powder-coated surfaces
Dust with a soft dry cloth. Where permitted, use a well-wrung soft cloth and, if needed, a suitable mild cleaner. Do not assume that glass cleaners, abrasive pastes or acidic or alkaline cleaners are suitable.
Electroplated and PVD finishes
Clean gently with a soft cloth and dry after any light damp wiping. Do not use brass polish, steel wool or strong polishing compounds; these may damage the outer finish. PVD and PVC coverings are different and do not share a care method.
Stainless steel and aluminium
Check for additional coatings or special finishes first. Follow the suitable instructions. Do not use acidic rust removers, abrasive tools or unconfirmed solvents.
Bare brass, copper and bronze
Retain natural patina where it is part of the confirmed design. Before polishing, check for protective coatings, antiqued finishes or plating. Do not grind away the original treatment simply to restore brightness.
Metal with an unknown finish
Dry dust first, blot spills and dry the surface. Neither colour nor a magnet test identifies the exact finish. Confirm the treatment before choosing a cleaner.
Prepare for a care enquiry
Provide the order, affected metal part and finish information, photographs and environmental conditions. Give details of any cleaner or lubricant already used to assist assessment.
Separate surface changes from structural faults
Assess natural patina, scratches, coating damage and structural faults separately. Preserve the intended finish. See model-specific instructions for lubrication, retightening and adjustment requirements.

Care reminders & support
Scope
Use this guide for the applicable material and model. Follow the product documents for assembly and special care. Ask for advice if unsure.
Pause treatment if a problem appears
Stop use and contact Dak Haan customer service or your sales contact if there is obvious corrosion, coating peeling, sharp burrs, cracked welds, structural looseness or a jammed mechanism.
Ask before treatment
If you are unsure how to proceed, ask Dak Haan customer service or the staff at your place of purchase for advice before treatment. Provide your order, photographs and any treatment already attempted.
Keep your product information
Keep this booklet, the material care information and the product-specific installation and use instructions for future care, moving and service.
